How to Be Healthy When the World is Actively Trying to Kill You

There’s no denying the world is one hell of a mess. With political fires, climate disasters, and endless social media crap, it’s really amazing that we can still stay sane — let alone healthy.

But here’s the thing: if you want to live long enough to see all of these dumpster fires burn out, you need to start prioritizing your health. Because when the dust settles and everything around you has turned to ash, the only thing left will be yourself.

I know what you’re thinking… “but man, staying healthy is hard!” And it is. It really is. But that’s exactly why you have to do it.

Let me explain…

The world will never make it easy for you to be healthy. It will always throw obstacles in your path and temptations at your feet — but that doesn’t mean you should give up! In fact, true health comes from having the discipline and resilience to push through those obstacles and take control of your own life.

So where do we start? Diet and exercise.

Diet: Stop Eating Like a Garbage Human

I get it, unhealthy food tastes good. And with everyone trying to sell us over-processed crap all the time, it’s easy to fall into the trap of mindlessly chowing down on garbage.

But if you want to feel good in your body, you’ve got to start treating it like a temple, not a dumpster fire.

Now I’m not saying you have to turn into one of those kale-eating, Goop-worshipping health nuts. But you do need to pay attention to what you’re putting into your bod.

Start by cutting out obvious crap like fast food, soda and anything that comes in a single serve plastic wrapper.

Instead, focus on whole foods that are packed with nutrients (aka fruits, veggies, lean protein and healthy fats). And if you want an extra kick in the pants for boosting weight management and overall well-being, try something like Ikaria Lean Belly Juice.

Exercise: Stop Being a Lazy Human

You can complain about how much exercise sucks until you’re blue in the face. But guess what? It’s hard work being overweight and out of shape too — not to mention how crappy it feels 24/7.

Humans were built to move their bodies and if you want yours to operate at max capacity (and just generally feel better), then moving needs to be a non-negotiable part of your routine.

Now I’m not saying you have to become CrossFit-addicted gym rat or marathon-running maniac. But you do have find some form physical activity that doesn’t make you lose your sh*t every time someone mentions working up a sweat.

Maybe that’s weights or yoga or just regular old walking. Whatever… as long as it gets your heart rate going (in a way that doesn’t give you a stroke) then stick with it!

Stress Management: Stop Being a Neurotic Mess

Let’s be real for second: Stress is inevitable. And in our chaotic modern world, it’s almost impossible to avoid it.

But just because you’re destined for a lifetime of tight muscles and cortisol spikes, doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it.

Chronic stress is basically the Grim Reaper and causes everything from heart disease to depression to premature aging. So if you want to stay healthy (and also not completely lose your mind), then you gotta find ways to manage it.

Now I’m not saying that you need to move into a monastery or sit through hours of meditation every day (although those things definitely might help).

But you do need to find some way of releasing all that internal tension and worry. Maybe that’s journaling or taking epsom salt baths or even just going for long walks outside — whatever works for you, make sure it’s something you enjoy doing so that there’s actually a chance of sticking with it.

Sleep: Stop Being a Zombie

I get it, sleep is boring AF. But did you know it’s also one of the most important things your body needs in order to function properly?

Lack of sleep has been linked to everything from obesity to decreased cognitive function to increased risk of chronic diseases. And in today’s “always on” culture, more and more people are skimping out on shut-eye.

If being a hot mess 24/7 sounds appealing, then by all means keep scrolling right past this section. But if waking up feeling like an energized superhuman who can actually focus on tasks without adding them up on their fingers sounds good — then listen up!

Aim for 7-9 hours per night in cool, dark room with minimal distractions… trust me, your boss will understand why your PowerPoint presentation wasn’t finished when they realize how well-rested and productive you’ve become!

And if you’re having trouble sleeping, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whether you meditate, use supplements or even go to therapy a good nights sleep is always important.

Now I understand this all seems like a lot of work, and that’s because it is. Especially in the world we live in nowadays. But that’s the whole point.

True health and well-being aren’t things that just fall into your lap. You need to fight for them everyday. Sure it may be difficult but at the end of the day it’s worth it.

Because out of everything else your health is the only thing that truly matters. It’s what everything else in life is built upon. And when shit hits the fan, which it will eventually do so, you are going to want as strong of a foundation as possible.

So quit making up excuses and blaming anything else other than yourself for not being healthy enough, because honestly there isn’t anything more important in life than a healthy body and mind.

So stop letting all of the chaos dictate how you’re living your life, because one healthy decision at a time can make an enormous change on your entire life and when everything around you starts crumbling down… That’ll be the only thing keeping you standing tall and strong.
