If you’re reading this, you probably suck at dieting and exercise. And that’s okay—most people do. We’re just a bunch of hairless apes stumbling around, trying not to get too fat or too unhealthy before we croak.
But here’s the real kick in the nuts: you already know what to do to get in shape. You know you should eat fewer crappy calories and move your ass more often. Yet you still can’t seem to make it happen consistently. Why? Because you’re a slave to your bad habits.

That’s okay. You’re human — we’re wired to conserve energy and seek out calorie-dense foods whenever possible. It helped our ancestors survive on this planet long enough for us to be here today.
But here’s the thing: You don’t live in that world anymore (hopefully). You live in a world where food is abundant and physical activity isn’t necessary for survival. So if you want to look and feel better than “just okay,” you must rise above those base instincts.
So when every fiber of your being is screaming at you to give in to laziness and gluttony, remind yourself why you started this journey in the first place. Envision the person you want to become — healthy, confident, and ready to take on the world.
And if that doesn’t work, keep telling yourself: “The pain of discipline is nothing compared to the pain of regret.”
The High Cost of Complacency
